- Idol winner David Cook has hooked up with iTunes to promote his new single Light On–users of iPhone or iTouch can buy an application that will make your device light up and then play Cook’s song. David says it’s a take-off on holding up your lighter during a concert, adding, "You get a lighter during a rock ballad, and nobody burns their thumbs."
  Ever since Brit tabloid The Sun published a dated photo of Katy Perry holding a knife next to a picture of a recently-stabbed teenager, it’s been a PR disaster for her–she took to her blog to call out the paper for trying to make her look like she condoned violence. Those comments apparently upset families of stabbing victims in the UK, who now want her removed as the host of the MTV Europe Awards November 7–held in the hometown of the pictured stabbing victim. And we thought her hit I Kissed A Girl would be controversial…- The Black Eyed Peas are close to finishing their new CD The E.N.D., only Will. I. Am. says it will never be finished–because he plans to constantly update it with new versions every few months. Some might consider that the view of a perfectionist–my ex would call it fear of committment…

- Amy Winehouse was released from the hospital Tuesday following an overnight stay, reportedly due to an adverse reaction to medicine. So, whaddya think–this is either the usual "medicine" she knows so well, or it really was a legitimate treatment and her body rejected it as something foreign…
- OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder, who’s been involved in writing material for Kelly Clarkson’s upcoming CD, calls it "amazing" and adds, "I’ve never been more excited about material that I’ve worked on with any artist, to be quite frank." High praise indeed–I wonder what Timbaland thinks of that?

- Madonna’s concert promotor Live Nation quashed any rumors about poor sales for her Sticky And Sweet tour, announcing Thursday that she has sold over a million tickets so far–representing 90 percent of all available seats for the tour. So far, she’s sold out dates in New York, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Toronto, Montreal, Paris and Mexico City–and, if reports are true, her husband as well…
- Amy Winehouse admits in a Rolling Stone interview that while she was in rehab at her record company’s request, she, quote, "did drugs the whole time". Well, that’s certainly a step in the right direction…
- Mr. "Mini-Me" Verne Troyer has struck back at an effort to release a sex tape of him and an ex-girlfriend, filing a $20 million violation-of-privacy and copyright-infringement suit against tabloid website TMZ for airing portions of the tape on their site and TV show. How embarassing it must be for him, imagining people watching him like that and saying, "How can he do that without falling down?"
- Paris Hilton has reportedly made a "generous" donation toward the construction of a new medical building on the site of LA’s Children’s Hospital, where she volunteered following her jail sentence last year. This is either the effect of her romance with Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden, or a mistaken attempt to buy some shoes…

- Katy Perry of I Kissed A Girl fame has definitely got boys on her mind, as Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes told a reporter that he bought her a "promise ring" and that he wears a silver band with "Katy" inscribed on it. - Amy Winehouse’s dad Mitch has backed off his claim that she has early-stage emphysema, telling BBC Radio Monday that she has "traces of emphysema…obviously if she doesn’t quit smoking, it’s gonna get worse". This is either spin from her publicist, or Pops is hitting the pipe too…
- Even more photographers have come forward to say they were also attacked by a group of surfers while trying to get shots of Matthew McConaughey riding the waves. - An Idaho judge has thrown out a $2.5 million lawsuit filed by Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson, who claimed the contractor who built their home made numerous "design deficiencies, errors and omissions". They plan to appeal the decision–I’m pretty sure Hanks has no interest in having his own real-life Money Pit sequel…

- Some paparazzi trying to get video of actor Matthew McConaughey surfing in Malibu were attacked Saturday–by about a dozen other surfers not connected with McConaughey, who nonetheless came to his defense. It’s probably because he always has the best weed…
