  • Sheryl Crow has gone fashion designer, with a new line of denim wear that features jeans made to look just like the pricey styles–but at a more affordable price, as Sheryl explains, "My friends from home [in Missouri] are not gonna go out and spend 250 dollars on a pair of jeans, but they would like to look like they’re wearing 250-dollar jeans."  The truth is that no one can afford to buy $250 jeans, only some people believe that wasting money makes them look good…
  • A spokesman for a Memphis hospital says Morgan Freeman has been released as he continues to recover from surgery on his left arm and hand injured in a car accident Sunday night, and in a statment Freeman says he’s doing well and in good spirits.  Considering he could be in a box inside a very cold room, he should be dancing a jig–if they’d only let him…
  • The Dark Knight continues to be a white knight for Warner Brothers, who announced that their latest Batman film has taken in over $400 million at the box office in just 18 days–smashing the previous record set by Shrek 2, which took over 3 weeks longer to hit that milestone.  Many are coming to see the late Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker, which looks to be one heck of a finale for him…

Chris Brown is working with Survivor creator Mark Burnett on a new dance competition series based on street dancing, with Chris in every episode to help determine which dancers move on to later rounds.  So will this mean that contestants will get voted off the corner?

Producer extraordinare Timbaland plans another Shock Value CD and says he has another group of superstars lined up to contribute, as Tim elaborates: "Right now, I have a song with MADONNA that I didn’t put on her album. I saved [it]…of course, I’m [gonna] do [a song] with BEYONCÉ. Of course, I’m [gonna] do one with JORDIN SPARKS, RIHANNATHE JONAS BROTHERS. I’m [gonna] try to have 10 major ones."  The only thing he left out:  of course it’s gonna be huge…

Katy Perry’s I Kissed A Girl has spent 5 weeks atop Billboard’s Hot 100.  And no, that does not mean she spent 5 weeks on top of the chart kissing a girl…

After anti-smoking advocacy groups informed Alicia Keys that there was a tobacco sponsor for her July 31 concert in Indonesia, she announced that she was able to have, "corrective actions be taken," adding, "I’m an unyielding advocate for the well-being and health of children around the world and do not condone or endorse smoking…I look forward to spreading my positive message to my wonderful fans in [Indonesia]."  So does your butt hurt more or less after a "corrective action"?

The Jonas Brothers have set a digital download record by being the first act with 3 consecutive songs that have sold more than 100,000 downloads each. I just want to know how many are their fans and how many are their fans’ moms…

The natives are restless at the Screen Actors Guild, currently at a standstill in negotiabtions over a new contract with producers, with a number of unhappy members working to get a majority of the union’s national board seats which will be elected in September.  I’m guessing there are a few folks hoping this will keep them all quite busy–and far away from other elections…

  • Katy Perry didn’t waste any time taking I Kissed A Girl to the top, where she not only went to #1 on the Billboard chart made a bit of history as well.  Her song became the 1,000th "Hot 100" #1 in what is commonly known as the "rock era"–which began with Rock Around The Clock hitting the top spot in 1955…
  • Auditions for season 8 of American Idol will get underway soon, with a first session in San Francisco July 17–get the complete schedule from the official American Idol website.  Producers hope they will find the next Kelly, Carrie, Daughtry, Jordin or David–and pray they don’t turn into Reuben, Fantasia, or Taylor…
  • Madonna’s concert promotor Live Nation quashed any rumors about poor sales for her Sticky And Sweet tour, announcing Thursday that she has sold over a million tickets so far–representing 90 percent of all available seats for the tour.  So far, she’s sold out dates in New York, Boston, Chicago, Denver, Houston, Las Vegas, Toronto, Montreal, Paris and Mexico City–and, if reports are true, her husband as well…
  • Amy Winehouse admits in a Rolling Stone interview that while she was in rehab at her record company’s request, she, quote, "did drugs the whole time".  Well, that’s certainly a step in the right direction…
  • Mr. "Mini-Me" Verne Troyer has struck back at an effort to release a sex tape of him and an ex-girlfriend, filing a $20 million violation-of-privacy and copyright-infringement suit against tabloid website TMZ for airing portions of the tape on their site and TV show.  How embarassing it must be for him, imagining people watching him like that and saying, "How can he do that without falling down?"
  • Paris Hilton has reportedly made a "generous" donation toward the construction of a new medical building on the site of LA’s Children’s Hospital, where she volunteered following her jail sentence last year.  This is either the effect of her romance with Good Charlotte’s Benji Madden, or a mistaken attempt to buy some shoes…

  • The paparazzi can’t wait for Miley Cyrus’ first kiss–that’s because pictures of it could fetch as much as $150,000, depending on whose lips they are. It makes me wonder what the price tag is for a shot of papa Billy Ray popping whoever tries it…
  • American Idol winner David Cook is off and running as a successful recording artist, with his song The Time Of My Life already selling almost a quarter million downloads so far, as well as all 11 of his Idol performances hitting Billboard’s Hot 100 simultaneously–the most since the Beatles put 14 on the chart in 1964. We’ll just have to figure out what to call it–Cook-Mania sounds like a Food Network show…
  • It’s another no-surprise celebrity pregnancy announcement, as the newly-hitched Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz went on the record that she is indeed expecting and it is, "truly the most joyous time in our lives".  You mean besides finally getting a real singer in the family?
  • Wacky American Idol contestant Sanjaya will soon be featured in a Nationwide Insurance TV ad promoting retirement planning.  It makes sense, since he’s at about fourteen and a half of his fifteen minutes of fame…
  • Former CSI star Gary Dourdan has pleaded guilty to felony drug possession charges, but his lawyer said he will do no jail time if he completes a 30-hour program.  Maybe it should consist of all his camera time on the show, so he can reflect on what I’m guessing the dope has cost him…
  • It looks like Eddie Murphy is next on the list of stars anxious to resurrect a successful film character, with plans in motion for a fourth Beverly Hills Cop movie that would be released in about two years.  That gives us all plenty of time to watch movie #3–to remember why there shouldn’t be a movie #4…

  • Rihanna has herself another #1 hit in Take A Bow, as it took a giant leap on Billboard’s Hot 100 from the #53 spot after selling over a quarter million digital downloads in one week.  This would be the perfect occasion to celebrate with your boyfriend Chris Brown–it’s too bad the two of them are just "friends"…
  • Legendary singer/songwriter Neil Diamond has his first-ever #1 album in a 45-year career, as his CD Home Before Dark sold 146,000 copies–likely due to his appearance on American Idol two weeks ago.  Pretty impressive, considering his last hit song came before any of the contestants were born–let alone most of the audience
  • Madonna said in an interview this week that her kids Lourdes and Rocco are constantly bugging her about her work, asking, "When are you coming home? Why are you always working? Why can’t you be just like a normal mom?"  Then she shows them her Like A Virgin video, and they shut up fast…
