A Vibe magazine poll voted Eminem as "The Best Rapper Alive" from a field of 64 that placed Jay-Z second. Em released a statement saying, "It’s obviously an honor to have won the fans’ support by being voted the Best Rapper Alive. I don’t think there is any one rapper that is simply the best, though… But since Vibe’s offering the distinction, hell yeah, I’ll accept!"…
- Katy Perry shed some light on her upbringing in a Blender magazine interview, revealing that her mom once dated Jimi Hendrix and her dad was a drug dealer specializing in a potent strain of LSD–all a part of their days as hippies in the ’60’s–but abandoned that lifestyle to become Evangelical ministers. You could say they found religion after meeting God…
- Britney Spears is still wrapped up in some legal difficulties, as a three-judge panel refused to dismiss a misdemeanor charge of driving without a license that stemmed from an incident when Brit hit a parked car and fled the scene–with one charge in that case already dismissed. Maybe she should just bit the bullet and take responsibility for it–it’s just what a clean and sober person would do…
- Fergie is experiencing one of those "blast from the past" moments she would have just as soon avoided–her prom date way back in 1993 was arrested for allegedly robbing a Southern California supermarket bank branch, with surveillance video showing him waving a gun during the holdup. You gotta admire whoever managed to dig this tidbit up–just they way you admire a mosquito, right before you squish it into oblivion…
Actor Nick Nolte escaped with just minor injuries when an electrical fire broke out at his Malibu home Tuesday, causing about a million dollars in damages. Maybe he was just trying to get rid of as many copies of these photos as he could…
- Director Oliver Stone says W, Stone’s film about President George Bush, is not a hatchet job designed to make Bush look bad–Stone claims he worked to make it "fair and balanced and compassionate". That kinda sounds like a report by Mother Teresa on Fox News…

- Madonna launched the US leg of her Sticky And Sweet tour Saturday from New Jersey’s Izod Center, and the consensus of reports suggested her show is more acrobatic than erotic. She was impressive by all accounts, but how sleazy can a 50-year-old mother of two really be?
- Crunk king Lil’ Jon, one of Britney Spears’ collaborators on her upcoming Circus CD, told People magazine that the album has the goods to put her back on top, adding, "It’s going to be a big album. Britney is very intelligent and she’s really set up [for success]. She is focused and she wants it again, so it’s definitely going to happen for her." That’s high praise indeed–not to mention nice to know he can say more than just "Yeah!"…
The Jonas Brothers say that the inspiration for their current single Lovebug was the movie Juno, as Nick explains, "Juno was one of our favorite movies at the time, and the soundtrack is…kind of odd, so we decided to put those elements in the song, and it came [together] very nicely." America’s favorite clearn-cut heartthrobs inspired by a wacky pregnant teen–has anybody told the suits at Disney?
- Janet Jackson continues to postpone concerts on her Rock Witchu tour, with performances in Greensboro, North Carolina Saturday, Atlanta Sunday, and Fort Lauderdale Tuesday delayed, along with shows in Montreal, Boston and Philadelphia–this after a doctor in Greensboro advised her not to perform because it was "evident" she had not recovered from whatever is ailing her. I certainly hope she isn’t turning back into Michael…
Olympic gold medal beach volleyball star Misty May-Treanor was hurt Friday and may be forced to end her competition on Dancing With The Stars, with a source stating that the injury to her Achilles heel would require surgery. Maybe the show would let her sub v-ball partner Kerri Walsh in–she looks good in a two-piece outfit too…
- The former headmistress of the school Oprah Winfrey owns in South Africa has filed a $250,000 suit against the talk show queen, claiming Oprah made defamatory remarks about her following reports that a female employee at the school was sexually abusing students there. Oprah has two choices–fight the suit tooth and nail, or settle and simply postpone her next shopping trip…

- Idol star David Archuleta has not only seen his hit Crush go gold–that means sales of 500,000 units–but will see himself on TV when he makes a guest appearance on the Nickelodeon series iCarly, about a high school girl who runs a popular video blog with her friends. David will play himself–always the smart choice for the beginning actor…
Hip-hop mogul Jay-Z will perform a pair of free concerts this weekend in support of Barack Obama, who has said that Jigga is one of his favorite artists. As these photos clearly show, Obama has a much bigger head about it than Jay-Z…
- Britney Spears visited a Bronx middle school Wednesday to present them a $10,000 check to benefit their music program, which was donated in Brit’s name by cosmetics giant Elizabeth Arden. That’s true gratitude–especially for someone who’s probably sold a bottle or two of perfume for them…
- An attorney for photographer Jill Ishkanian, who placed a 911 call about Heather Locklear’s erratic driving, says his client runs a paparazzo agency and sold photos of Locklear’s arrest for $27,000, but said her actions were motivated by "civic duty" and concern for Locklear’s safety. While it’s true that her 911 call was just exactly what any concerned person should do for the safety of others, what others have said about Iskanian might say more about that call that concern…
TV’s Tina Fey–whose sitcom 30 Rock is Emmy-rich for a second year in a row, and whose dead-on impression of Sarah Palin has been attracting record audiences to Saturday Night Live–is on the receiving end of a bidding war between publishers all anxious to have Fey write for them.
- Rosie O’Donnell is returning to TV to host a live primetime special on NBC titled Rosie’s Variety Show, set to air Thanksgiving Eve–which may set up a permanent return to the tube for Rosie if the show is picked up as a series for next year. I think it’ll go just fine–as long as Elisabeth Hasselbeck isn’t one of the contestants…

Not only does Katy Perry has a hit song, but she now has a doll, as she teamed up with a fashion designer to create a 12-inch doll that will sell for 50 bucks through Integrity Toys and will feature the belted gold minidress Katy wears in the video for I Kissed A Girl. I wanted to get one for my little niece, only it kept trying to put a lip lock on Malibu Barbie…
- More great news for ex-Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker–he’s been released from the hospital with a spokesperson reporting that he’s "in good condition". That certainly is an encouraging report–although how often is someone discharged with the statement, "The patient is in terrible shape, but we’re cutting them loose anyway"?
- Britney Spears said in a radio interview Monday that she is "definitely" hitting the road next year to do some shows, and that it likely will be a world tour. It must make her feel just like a teenager again–you know, having to ask her dad for permission to go…
- A former attorney for Heath Ledger has filed suit against an insurance company who he alleges is withholding a $10 million payout on a policy Ledger took out to benefit his daughter Matilda Rose. The company claims they are just thoroughly investigating the possibility that Ledger committed suicide, despite a coroner’s report calling his death an accidental drug overdose, which would let them off the hook for paying–which would be almost as evil as Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight…
- Ed McMahon is back in legal hot water, thanks to a lawsuit from a company founded by the late Merv Griffin who claims it loaned McMahon $100 grand in 2005 and hasn’t been repaid. Maybe Merv’s people could let Ed win the money on Wheel Of Fortune…
Janet Jackson had to cancel a Montreal concert when she was hospitalized after suddenly becoming sick during sound check. Maybe she took a look at her hairdo and just puked…

Britney Spears continues to work towards the release of her CD Circus December 2, shooting a video for the album’s first single Womanizer at a club and restaurant in downtown L.A. Wednesday and Thursday. It reportedly contains some "erotic choreography" where she straddles a guy and then sucks on cherries–in other words, she’s trying something more mature…
- U2’s The Edge was a bit peeved over reports that bandmate Bono had bought himself a pricey yacht–mostly because the buyer was actually the legendary guitarist himself, telling The Irish Independent, "For years, it was a dream of mine to own a yacht but to be honest, it was a bit out of my league. So myself and a few friends got together, chipped in and bought the Cyan." He makes it sound like they were ordering a pizza–only with seven-figure toppings …
Illusionist David Blaine’s latest stunt, featured in a two-hour ABC special Wednesday night, had a less-than-thrilling finale–he told TMZ that he blames President Bush, whose speech delayed the start of his stunt by 15 minutes. You know, I have no problem blaming Bush for any number of things, but he is definitely getting a pass from me for this…
- Ed McMahon will be featured in a new ad for FreeCreditReport.Com, rapping about his financial troubles and riffing on his former gig as spokesperson for American Family Publishers by cruising through neighborhoods and asking sweepstakes winners for money. Um…I think that last part is actually true…
- Nickelback returns with a new CD November 18 titled Dark Horse, and will offer fans a free download of the track Gotta Be Somebody from the album starting Monday at 6AM Eastern time on the band’s website. Frontman Chad Kroeger says, "there’s a lot of truly filthy subject matter and adult themes" on the new album–i guess he just wanted to make sure that kids would know not to buy it…
- September isn’t even over and we already have our first TV casualty, as Fox has dumped the Jerry O’Connell sitcom Do Not Disturb–the official line is that the show is being put on hiatus for a week, but gossip says that’s when the show will get the official ax. That’s pretty depressing–although not as depressing as being cancelled from The CW Network…
