  • Britney Spears had a bit of a scare when her son Jayden was admitted to a Mississippi hospital Sunday during a weekend family reunion in her Louisiana hometown, after he reportedly had a nasty allergic reaction to something he ate–the good news is he’s fine and was discharged last night.  Poor kid probably ate something his father never fed him before–you know, anything not off the Happy Meal menu…
  • Chrisitna Aguilera is releasing her first greatest hits package today–which, believe it or not, follows ten years of hits from her–titled Keeps Gettin’ Better, which is available exclusively from Target.  the package includes new versions of Genie In A Bottle and Beautiful, as well as her current hit Keeps Gettin’ Better
  • Beyonce told an Associated Press interview that she never considered selling her wedding photos, saying, "They offer crazy money that’s just ridiculous. But in the end…it’s so not worth it."  Then again, she and husband Jay-Z probably control the equivalent of a couple small nations’ economies…
  • Entertainment Weekly reports that Colbie Callait, who a few years ago tried and failed to make the cut for American Idol, got a little payback last week when judge Randy JacksonW gave her an award for her song Bubbly–which she sang for her audition.  She busted on Randy a bit, but the truth was that she never even made it past one of the show’s producers–who probably no longer works there…
  • Billy Ray Cyrus hinted to TV’s Access Hollywood that First Kids-elect Malia and Sasha Obama have been invited to guest star on daughter Miley’s hit Disney series Hanna Montana.  I guess if it happens, they’ll just play kids like themselves–you know, who suddenly are famous beyond their wildest imaginations…
  • YouTube will soon be a destination for full-length entertainment from MGM, including old and new classics like The Magnificent Seven and Legally Blonde.  Some say they’re playing catch-up with the joint NBC-Fox venture Hulu, but don’t underestimate Google, YouTube’s owners–MGM could very soon stand for More Google Media…

Christina Aguilera is posing for commemorative photos to help mark the 150th anniversary of department store giant Macy’s in October–others include Donald Trump, Martha Stewart, Tommy Hilfiger and Calvin Klein.  What a beautiful picture–and she didn’t even have to leave off her underwear…

Another edition of Fashion Rocks will be airing on CBS September 9, and they’ve added music from the Pussycat Dolls plus Timbaland with special guests Lynyrd Skynyrd. The lineup for the 5th annual fashion/music event already includes Justin Timberlake, Mariah Carey, Rihanna and more. 

Amy Winehouse’s father Mitch claims her recent visit to the hospital was caused by a friend or hanger-on who spiked her drink with Ecstacy.  I gotta believe the entire rehab-happy celebrity community are so grateful for her–she is totally carrying the mail for them…

Attorneys for Britney Spears were back in court Thursday, this time to revisit the conservatorship established to put her father Jamie in charge of her affairs.  As expected, he will remain in charge through the end of the year–which should give ex-manager Sam Lufti enough time to find another helpless celebrity to try and control…

Convicted boy-band impressario Lou Pearlman has ratted out a fellow federal prison inmate accused of murder, after Pearlman overheard him admit to the crime. Pearlman is likely hoping to have his sentence reduced–which likely will happen once the prison population hears the news…

A new TV ad by John McCain tries to compare Barack Obama to Paris Hilton and Britney Spears, flashing pictures of them while the ad refers to Obama as "the biggest celebrity in the world".  Now that’s just silly–everybody knows it’s that guy on Lost

  • Madonna previewed her new album Hard Candy for fans last night at an exclusive New York show,  featuring Madge trading moves with Justin Timberlake on her hit 4 Minutes and generally not moving like most 49-year-old mothers of 3 do.  Considering the number of F-bombs she dropped, she’s not talking like one either…
  • People Magazine’s annual 100 Most Beautiful People list is out and it features Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Christina Aguilera, Pink, Alicia Keys, Miley Cyrus and Kelly Clarkson.  Why that guy Hurley from Lost didn’t get picked, I’ll never know…
  • Daughtry is getting serious in the competition for the best-selling American Idol contestant, as sales of his self-titled debut CD just hit 4 million.  Only Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood have sold more so far–and yes, he did lose to Taylor Hicks
  • Mariah Carey’s E=MC2 topped the album charts for a second week in a row, but it’s likely to be unseated by the debut of Madonna’s Hard Candy, which is on target to sell about 300,000 copies.  The last time these two were ruling the charts we all liked Bill Clinton
  • David Blaine held his breath in a water-filled sphere for just over 17 minutes on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday, setting a world’s record.   What surprises me is that Simon Cowell of American Idol fame hasn’t tried this–he’s a big bag of wind
  • Tom Cruise is in talks to star in a fourth Mission: Impossible film.  The premise is a simple one–he has to convince the world that Katie Holmes really loves him and has not been brainwashed by Scientology

  • Sara Bareilles says her recent success means that people are finally pronouncing her name correctly! (it’s buh-RELL-iss)  She’s also happy that people are finding their own interpretations of her hit Love Song, even though she feels it’s obvious that it’s about the pressure her record label put on her to write some hit songs…
  • Linkin Park will use an off-day from their tour tomorrow to head to New Orleans and help Habitat For Humanity rebuild neighborhoods destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.  I think it’s wonderful that these guys are helping out, but let’s just keep the power tools away from their hands, OK?
  • The tragic death of Kanye West’s mother, Dr. Donda West, has led California lawmakers to consider a bill requiring plastic surgery patients to obtain proper medical clearance beforehand.  So what does it say about the plastic surgery industry that a law like this is even considered?
  • The Oscars may be the movies’ biggest night, but it sure wasn’t for TVSunday’s show had its smallest audience in 34 years and its lowest ratings in the 55 years it’s been televised.  I don’t get it–people think this is boring, yet they’ll watch some guy scratch his nuts for an hour on Big Brother
  • Jason Bourne will rise again, as star Matt Damon and director Paul Greengrass have signed on to make a fourth film in the series.  The script tenatively calls for Bourne to search for the true identity of the Hamburgler
  • Gossip says Christina Aguilera is quite upset about the poor sales of the People magazine issue featuring photos of her with new baby Max.  It’s just too bad you didn’t have the kid in rehab…

  • Pink posted a statement on her website yesterday regarding her impending divorce to Carey Hart, telling fans that the split is "not about cheating, anger or fighting".  Apparently it’s over who has what pierced where…
  • The Britney Spears conservatorship mess continues to drag on, as a lawyer claiming to represent Brit has requested that the case be moved to federal court, claiming the arrangement has violated her civil rights.  I suppose–if his definition includes keeping her hair and underwear on at all times
  • Paramore launches a month-long tour beginning in April, and bandmates and brothers Josh and Zac Farro say they’re thrilled to be co-headlining with Jimmy Eat World–they’ve been huge fans since 1999.  Josh and Zac added that they turned lead singer Hayley Williams onto them as well, and now both bands record for the same label…
  • People magazine’s $1.5 million investment in exclusive photos of Christina Aguilera and her new baby Max may not pay off–the issue has sold 100,000 fewer copies than usual.  It could be that unless you’re crazy, drunk, high or naked, no one is that interested…
  • New York Magazine’s website has posted still more photos from its Lindsay Lohan-as-Marilyn-Monroe photo shoot, leaving little to the imagination.  I guess you could say that sometimes, overexposure can be a good thing…
  • American Idol continues to ride high in the ratings battle, with both of last week’s shows ranked first and second–and each with more than twice the audience of any show behind them.  I have no doubt that Simon believes it’s all due to him…
