• Idol winner David Cook has a potential songwriting partner in Goo Goo Dolls’ frontman Johnny Rzenik, who says he would like to collaborate with Cook on some tunes, "’Cause he’s real, he plays the guitar, he’s got a cool voice, he seems like a regular guy, so…why not?" That, and there are those 30 million people who saw him win…
• Entertainment Weekly will celebrate its 1,000th issue with a review of the best in pop culture over the past 25 years, with lists of best movies, TV shows, and albums.  Their readers also chose some winners, and put Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson among their Top 5 favorite singers–which reminds me I have to cancel my subscription…
• NBC News announced Thursday that its Nightly News anchorman Brian Williams will take over interim hosting duties at Meet The Press, less than a week after the sudden and shocking death of long-time host Tim Russert.  Williams is an excellent choice, but he’ll have to be on his "A" game–I’m betting that both Big and Little "Russ" will be watching…

• Idol winner David Cook is in the top 10 of People magazine’s annual list of hottest bachelors.  He’s not the only contestant featured–Clay Aiken tops the "Guys Still In The Closet" list …
• PETA has named British singer Leona Lewis the World’s Sexiest Vegetarian.  I guess it would be OK to call her a hot tomato then…
• John Mayer had a romantic dinner with his supposed new flame Jennifer Aniston Tuesday night, just before he left for his European tour .  I suppose that like her, he wants to be more than just Friends…
• Charlie Sheen has apologized for an angry voicemail left for ex-wife Denise Richards that she made public, filled with profanity and a racial epithet.  I think he was sorriest that he couldn’t have delivered it in person…
• I read that Taco Bell has asked rapper 50 Cent to change his name to 79 Cent for one day to help them promote a new value menu.  And all he gets is a lousy 29 cents?
• The estate of author Mario Puzo has sued the studio that released The Godfather, claiming that Puzo–who wrote the book–is owed revenue from a video game based on the film.  The studio will probably make them an offer they can’t refuse…

• Britney Spears’ mom Lynn is now writing a memoir expected to be out this fall about her experience raising two daughters in the media spotlight–an effort her publisher says was put on hold when 16-year-old Jamie Lynn became pregnant.  That was probably also the point when it stopped being that mom’s how-to book…
• Both Beyonce and her rap mogul husband Jay-Z made the Top Ten in Forbes’ annual Celebrity 100 list, with B at #4 and Jigga in at #7.  They may both be wearing the pants in that family–but whose have the deepest pockets?
• Idol winner David Cook talked about the competition in a Rolling Stone interview, saying, "I was never in it to win it, and that took some pressure off me. If I’d gotten caught up in all that, I would’ve had a coronary."  For runner-up David Archuleta’s dad, that might have actually helped him…
• Katy Perry of I Kissed A Girl fame told a website interview that she recently met Rolling Stones’ legendary lead singer Mick Jagger and that he tried to put the moves on her–only Katy was having none of it, saying, "(He) could be my dad. I don’t cross 60. The age limit’s probably 30."  Hers, or Mick’s?
• People magazine says Mel Gibson and Britney Spears spent a few hours together at a Beverly Hills cigar club this week in what they described as,  "more of an ongoing guidance session than a business pow-wow."   He probably does have a lot to teach her–other than the benefits of Judiasm…
• Grey’s Anatomy star Katherine Heigl took the unusual step of withdrawing from Emmy consideration, saying in a statement that, "I did not feel that I was given the material this season to warrant an Emmy nomination…".  She shouldn’t worry–I’m sure the writers will give her some great stuff for her death scene next season…

More details are coming out about Britney Spears’ cameo appearance in a new Pussycat Dolls video premiering Friday, with a source revealing that Brit is seen driving a blue convertible and waving to the Dolls as she passes by.  I just hope the kids were in their seatbelts…

Longtime U2 producer Daniel Lanois told an Irish radio station that work on a new album is, "on the home stretch. We’re gonna deliver it in about three weeks…and then hopefully they’ll have that record out in the fall."  I imagine Bono and the boys are hopeful that life on Mars will be discovered–it’s about the only market left untapped for them…

Idol winner David Cook is thinking of going the way of former finalist Chris Daughtry–putting together a band rather than performing solo, telling his hometown newspaper, "I’m of the mind that a band wouldn’t be such a bad idea."  I don’t know what Dave likes more–the camraderie, or the 4 million in album sales…

Film directing icons Spike Lee and Clint Eastwood exchanged some heated words recently over Eastwood’s twin World War II movies Flags Of Our Fathers and Letters From Iwo Jima, with Lee’s criticism that they included no African-Americans resulting in Eastwood’s retort that Lee should "shut his face".  I’ve got a lot of respect for Spike, but he does realize he’s messing with Dirty Harry, doesn’t he?

A judge has ordered Anne Heche to pay $275,000 plus $3700 a month in child support to her ex-husband Corey Laffoon, who has custody of their 6-year-old son.  If Anne had only stayed a lesbian, none of this would ever have happened…
