- The Jonas Brothers oudid Miley Cyrus’ appearance on Good Morning America’s summer concert series Friday, drawing an estimated 20 thousand fans at New York’s Bryant Park. The boys have a distinct advantage–they’ve got screaming teenage girls and their moms who love them…
It appears that Britney Spears and MTV have a sense of humor about her most recent appearance at the Video Music Awards, thanks to a promo airing for this year’s show that features Brit and VMA host Russell Brand cracking jokes about sexual tension while an elephant looms large in the background–a clever reference to her horrible performance last year. I hope this ends the rumors about her appearing in this year’s show with the elephant so she’ll look good by comparison…
- Katy Perry has gotten a lot of flack about her hit I Kissed A Girl from people who say she’s corrupting young people with the song, and she explains in an interview with The Fresno Bee that she wasn’t trying to be deliberately provocative, saying, "I’m really just talking about my life. I did kiss a girl. That was my experience. The song is really about curiosity." She adds, "I’m like, ‘Honestly, you’re so worred about a little kiss, but then you’re gonna sing along to ‘Lick me like a lollipop?’ Amen…
- Clay Aiken announced Friday that his close friend and producer Jaymes Foster has given birth to his son, named Parker Foster Aiken. The two are not romantically involved, but plan to raise the child together–which will almost certainly give this child a wonderful sense of irony about the world…
- The entertainment world was rocked by two deaths over the weekend–comedian and actor Bernie Mac and the legendary singer-songwriter Isaac Hayes. This is really a terrible blow–not only were both of these men terrifically talented, but those poor South Park kids won’t know what to do without their Chef…
- Matthew McConaughey told CNN that he plans to fertilize an orchard by planting his son Levi’s placenta there, recalling how he had seen it in practice in Australia. Well, I guess that this is better than his original plan–to alternately eat it and rub it on his chest while saying, "All right, all right, all right"…

- MTV is showing Britney Spears some love after she embarrassed herself while performing at last year’s Video Music Awards–she’s been nominated for a Best Pop Video VMA. I think if she were to win, she’d have a much different stage experience this time…
Fall Out Boy’s Pete Wentz will soon be a daddy when new wife Ashlee Simpson delivers their first child, and he says he’s doing a lot of reading on the subject, as well as watching some related movies, telling People magazine, "I’ve watched Look Who’s Talking and Look Who’s Talking Too. I’d be worried if the baby sounded like Bruce Willis"–yeah, but think of the acting jobs the little one could get…
- Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman is recovering after a car accident in Mississippi Sunday causing a broken arm, broken elbow and some shoulder damage. Freeman is reportedly in good spirits and expects to make a full recovery–although his days of Driving Miss Daisy–or anyone else–are probably over…

reportedly TV’s top-paid actor, pulling down $20 million per season. The way his child custody case is going with ex Denise Richards, he’s gonna need every penny…
An American Idol audition in Puerto Rico had only 300 hopefuls show up, in comparison to the thousands who typically line up in other cities for a shot at being on the hit TV series. Either no one there thinks they can sing, or they’ve all dated Paula Abdul…

- Britney Spears makes her return to CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother tonight, and the show’s creator says the episode leaves open the chance for her to return next season. This is easily the best thing to happen to her since she kicked K-Fed to the curb…
- Colbie Caillat, who hit the big time thanks to being discovered on MySpace, tried out not once but twice for American Idol and was rejected both times–not even getting past the first line of producers. In other words, Colbie got all the glory–with none of the humiliation…
- Playboy founder Hugh Hefner said recently that 15-year-old Miley Cyrus–recently featured in a suggestive Vanity Fair photo shoot –would be, "welcomed in [Playboy] magazine" and the outcry over her photos shows, "how schizophrenic America is about sexuality." I think the kindest thing I can is that Hef’s senility has obviously set in…
- Leona Lewis’ huge hit Bleeding Love has set another chart record–it’s been #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100 for four consecutive weeks, something no British solo female artist has ever done. For Lenora, there’s no bleeding, but plenty of love–at least from her accountant…
- Justin Timberlake is teaming with MTV to produce a reality game show called The Phone–where 2 contestants will answer cell phones at opposite ends of a big city, and an unseen guide will direct them through a "race against time" for a big cash prize. This sounds suspiciously like my teenager’s last shopping trip…

- Jordin Sparks told MTV in an email that she’s almost healed from a vocal cord hemorrhage and that she should be back on tour in a few more days. She wrote that full vocal rest for two weeks has been pretty tough on her, meaning "no talking, laughing, giggling and singing. Can I tell you how hard that is?"…
- Britney Spears is definitely returning to How I Met Your Mother–she’ll be featured on the sticom in a May 12 episode. She reportedly will have a lot of screen time with star Neil Patrick Harris, which will make him almost as happy as being called "Doogie Howser"…
- Saturday Night Live’s Amy Poehler, who stars in box office hit Baby Mama as a surrogate mother for co-star Tina Fey’s character, is actually pregnant herself. So how often can an actor use a performance to enhance their real life?
- Famed photographer Annie Liebowitz is defending that controversial photo of Miley Cyrus in Vanity Fair that Miley told fans she was sorry she did. Liebowitz says the shot has been "misinterpreted"–but I wonder if she’d feel the same way if it was her 15-year-old who looked topless in a fashion magazine…
- Grey’s Anatomy suffered its smallest audience ever for an original episode when it returned last week, and star Patrick Dempsey suggested that the wirter’s strike was the reason. It’s just a guess, but I think McDreamy is McDreaming…

- There’s still no confirmation that Beyonce and rap mogul Jay-Z married over the weekend in his Manhattan apartment, but reports say they are negotiating the sale of their wedding photos which they plan to donate to charity. Fine, just as long as they’re not working on the release of a live DVD and making-of documentary…
- Madonna’s Michigan home town wants to honor her with a key to the city–only an effort to do it over twenty years ago was nixed by city officials because she was considered too contorversial. I guess being a married mom of two with three dozen Top Ten hits and a place in the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame tamed her right down…

- Final box office numbers for last weekend now show that George Clooney’s Leatherheads finished third instead of second, pushing Jodie Foster and Nim’s Island ahead of it into the number two spot behind Twenty-One.
