• The Jonas Brothers are certainly Burnin’ Up these days–their current tour, a new CD due out on Tuesday, and plans to start filming their Disney Channel series in about two months, which looks now to be a music and comedy effort where the band says, "We can just pick up a guitar and break into song, in really funny situations."  Of course, right now they could just sit around and read the telephone book and attract a big audience…
• Katy Perry’s success with I Kissed A Girl, which has spent 6 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Hot 100, was no overnight success–Katy says she’s struggled for 7 years to get a record deal and release an album that she wanted to make.  Now that she has what may be the biggest song of the year, she’ll find it will be the others doing the struggling while she’ll be making the deals…
• Sheryl Crow has gone fashion designer, with a new line of denim wear that features jeans made to look just like the pricey styles–but at a more affordable price, as Sheryl explains, "My friends from home [in Missouri] are not gonna go out and spend 250 dollars on a pair of jeans, but they would like to look like they’re wearing 250-dollar jeans."  The truth is that no one can afford to buy $250 jeans, only some people believe that wasting money makes them look good…
• A spokesman for a Memphis hospital says Morgan Freeman has been released as he continues to recover from surgery on his left arm and hand injured in a car accident Sunday night, and in a statment Freeman says he’s doing well and in good spirits.  Considering he could be in a box inside a very cold room, he should be dancing a jig–if they’d only let him…
• The Dark Knight continues to be a white knight for Warner Brothers, who announced that their latest Batman film has taken in over $400 million at the box office in just 18 days–smashing the previous record set by Shrek 2, which took over 3 weeks longer to hit that milestone.  Many are coming to see the late Heath Ledger’s performance as The Joker, which looks to be one heck of a finale for him…

• Those that have been feverishly waiting to see pictures of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s new twins Vivienne and Knox are in luck–they’re in the new issue of People, and it hit newsstands Monday.  They teamed with the UK’s Hello! to buy the photos for a record $14 million, which reportedly all went to charity–The Society For The Preservation Of Celebrity Couples And Their Oversized Families…
• Jonas Brothers were the big winners at  the Teen Choice Awards–broadcast on Fox Monday night at 8PM Eastern–scoring six surfboard trophies for Choice Music Single, Choice Breakout Group, Choice Music Love Song, Choice Summer Song, Choice Male Hottie and Choice Red Carpet Fashion Icon Male.  That worked out well–they can all share equally with no fighting…
• Madonna was back home in Michigan Saturday to screen her Malawi documentary I Am Because We Are at a local film festival.  While her husband Guy Ritchie didn’t seem to be with her, she was joined by Oscar-winning director and festival founder Michael Moore–does that mean they’re a couple now?
• Kanye West has put to rest the rumors that he would be producing Britney Spears with a brief post on his blog, saying, "I have not signed up to do Britney Spears music."  K-Fed must be bummed–he probably figured he was guaranteed a job…
• Lindsay Lohan took offense to a comment made by LA police chief William Bratton, who gave as an example of how paparazzi are currently less of a problem  that Lohan, quote, "had gone gay" with DJ Samantha Ronson.  LiLo told reporters that the chief "shouldn’t get involved in everyone else’s business when it comes to their personal life"–and then apparently stuck her tongue just as far down Ronson’s throat as possible…
• Canadian singer Sarah McLaughlin will release a greatest-hits package in October 7 called Closer: The Best Of Sarah McLaughlin, which will include 14 of her hits including I Will Remember You and Building A Mystery, plus 2 new tracks–U Want Me 2 and Don’t Give Up On Us.  A deluxe 2-CD package will include a second disc of more of her hits–plus an explanation to her male fans about what the heck Lillith Fair was all about…

Chris Brown is working with Survivor creator Mark Burnett on a new dance competition series based on street dancing, with Chris in every episode to help determine which dancers move on to later rounds.  So will this mean that contestants will get voted off the corner?

Producer extraordinare Timbaland plans another Shock Value CD and says he has another group of superstars lined up to contribute, as Tim elaborates: "Right now, I have a song with MADONNA that I didn’t put on her album. I saved [it]…of course, I’m [gonna] do [a song] with BEYONCÉ. Of course, I’m [gonna] do one with JORDIN SPARKS, RIHANNA…THE JONAS BROTHERS. I’m [gonna] try to have 10 major ones."  The only thing he left out:  of course it’s gonna be huge…

After anti-smoking advocacy groups informed Alicia Keys that there was a tobacco sponsor for her July 31 concert in Indonesia, she announced that she was able to have, "corrective actions be taken," adding, "I’m an unyielding advocate for the well-being and health of children around the world and do not condone or endorse smoking…I look forward to spreading my positive message to my wonderful fans in [Indonesia]."  So does your butt hurt more or less after a "corrective action"?

The Jonas Brothers have set a digital download record by being the first act with 3 consecutive songs that have sold more than 100,000 downloads each. I just want to know how many are their fans and how many are their fans’ moms…

The natives are restless at the Screen Actors Guild, currently at a standstill in negotiabtions over a new contract with producers, with a number of unhappy members working to get a majority of the union’s national board seats which will be elected in September.  I’m guessing there are a few folks hoping this will keep them all quite busy–and far away from other elections…

• The Jonas Brothers will take to the ice–sort of–when they help figure skating great Kristi Yamaguchi at her annual charity event October 12 in Phoenix.  I’m sure they’ll get a warm reception–I just hope it’s not too warm…
• A pair of paparazzi trying to get pics of Britney Spears near her Studio City home Monday afternoon were arrested–for loitering on city-owned property.  I’m sure those officers realize that these guys have a job to do–I just think the cops would prefer they do it trying to make babies laugh at Sears…
• Dark Knight star Christian Bale has denied allegations of assault made by his mother and sister in a statement made by his attorney after Bale was questioned by London police and then released without being charged.  Maybe this is just a big misunderstanding–like they got mad because they think he’s deliberately not letting them get an autograph from Heath Ledger…
• The All-Star Game helped Fox win the TV ratings battle, as the game’s first 9 innings was the most-watched show last week.   Of course, by the time the game actually ended, they were competing with a Billy Mays infomercial…

• A Long Island resident claims that Saturday Night Live creator Lorne Michaels has stolen his ideas and used them in the show, insisting that Michaels "somehow" tapped into his private conversations.  Considering that this guy has also been charged with stalking Michaels, his wack job credentials are definitely confirmed…

• OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder is less than pleased that Idol runner-up David Archuleta is singing his band’s hit Apologize every night on the Idols Live tour, saying it’s "bizarre."  I think what really bugs him is how Archuleta’s dad keeps calling to find out what else he’s got that his kid can sing…
• It’s no wonder that Madonna is unhappy about the book her brother Chris has written about her life–among the dirt he dishes, he says she has a huge picture of herself–displayed in full view of her kids–wearing S&M gear laying on a bed of dead animals, plus he claims that current husband Guy Ritchie is a homophobe.  Sounds like somebody’s name is getting scratched off the Hannukah gift list…
• The Jonas Brothers seem to cause a commotion wherever they perform, and a recent show in Dallas was no exception–only it was Taylor Swift creating a buzz in the audience trying to watch the show.  Based on how she was acting, she was more interested in getting the boys’ attention than the fans’…
• It’s finally Brangelina Babies time, as Angelina Jolie gave birth to twins–a healthy boy and a girl–Saturday evening at a hospital in Nice.  They were named Vivienne Marcheline, which is Angie’s late mom’s name, and Knox Leon–named for where the money they get from selling the kids’ pictures will go…
• Miss Venezuela was crowned Miss Universe in Vietnam Sunday night, and for the second year in a row the Miss USA contestant managed to trip on her evening gown and fall on her keister.  It’s aR lot of pressure for pageant owner Donald Trump–he doesn’t like being the "butt" of anyone’s jokes…
• The Wall Street Journal’s website reports that NBC Universal and Law And Order creator Dick Wolf are at odds over the way the network promotes and distributes his long-running and still-popular franchises.  Wolf argues that the network overexposes his shows–which gave him an instpriation to get Madonna for an upcoming episode…
